frequently asked questions:
What payments can I use to purchase an honor flag?
Checks can be written to PEM Troop 57 and mailed to the following address:
Scoutmaster Leonard Rollins, Troop 57 Flags, 415 2nd. St. SE, Plainview, MN 55964
What are you doing with the donations?
Donations help provide scholarships for camps, purchase awards for current scouts, help defer the cost of other scouting activities,
and allow us to update our equipment.
What days are the flags set out?
Memorial Day, Flag Day, Fourth of July, Patriot Day, and Veterans Day.
In addition, all flags will be set out at a central location, for Cheese Days weekend and Corn on the Cob Days weekend.
When will the flags be set out?
Typically, flags will be set out 1-2 days before the holiday and will be removed 1-2 days after the holiday.
Do I need to be home when the flags are set out?
No. We will only put a flag in your pre-selected spot and you do not need to be there when the flags are set out or removed.
Will you dig a hole in my lawn?
No. Flag poles are supported by a fence post placed in the ground at a depth of 12-14 inches and are stored with the flag when not on display.
Do I get to keep the flag?
Typically no, however special situations can be discussed.
I have a flag already can I use that?
Because we will not be checking in with you each time a flag is set up, we will be using the flags that we have currently.
I live in the country; can I get a flag at my house?
Due to time constraints, we are currently only setting up flags in the towns of Plainview, Elgin, and Millville.
If you are outside those areas and still would like to purchase an honor flag, we have set up group display locations in each town.
It is after Memorial Day, can I still purchase an honor flag?
Yes. We will prorate the purchase to reflect missed display days.
I purchased a flag last year, am I automatically on the list for this year?
No. We will be making calls in January and February to sign up previous donors.
